About UsOur Story - Why do we do it: What we as producers want to do for you as a customer is provide a quality product produced in a sustainable manner. Why G.O.S.? We got our start with G.O.S. in 2004. Before this we raised crossbred hogs in a pasture/ dry lot program, but it seemed to me that the replacement boars and gilts I had access to was of very poor quality. They were hard to handle, ill tempered, you could not feed the shoats enough in the winter to keep them alive because they were so lean, and becauase they had no fat, the meat tasted like a thick piece of cardboard. Than I found out about G.O.S. What traits we breed for. 1. All our sows wean at least 8 pigs per litter . 2. Sows farrow without assistance. 3. Docility. 4. Maintain good health/flesh on either pasture or a well balanced corn based ration. 5. Milks good. 6. Breeds back easy. |
