Known for its tender, succulent meat, the Gloucestershire “Old Spot” breed attributes include superior meat quality, due to the pork being well marbled, this means the pork is highly palatable and sweet tasting. This increased fat level could drive off some consumers, but this is just a known characteristic of this traditional breed, that by the way gives the Gloucestershire “Old Spot” its superior eating quality.
          All of our hogs are raised outdoors and are provided with an abundant supply of fresh,  farm feeds  , Feeding like this takes a little longer for these hogs to grow, but “What’s time to a hog? "  We used to get our feed  ground / mixed at a small local Feed Dealer in Walshville, Illinois (217-999-3111).  It is run by Dave Eilert and his mother Marcella who is 81 years young.  But now we have our own feed grinder . By raising and storing our own grain on our own farm, we have better control over what goes into the animals we produce.
